What to Expect: Birth Doula 

 

As your doula, I will guide you before, during, and just after birth. I will provide emotional, physical, and informational support. I will bring calm, peaceful energy into the birthing environment and throughout labor to delivery. I will work cooperatively and collaboratively with your birth team. It is my intention to honor that this is your birth and respect your birth vision. I will not judge or condemn, but I will accept and show compassion toward you and your partner. I am committed to encouraging self-advocacy, understanding the importance of your voice. I will not speak for you, but rather listen to, be aware of, and honor your wishes, needs, body language, facial expressions, and energy. I will respect birth site policies, staff, medical/midwifery professionals. I will never give medical advice. I will be present for a short time after delivery and offer guidance with the first breastfeeding and support your privacy during the first hours after birth. I will provide follow up support with the early days of postpartum.
